Role Overview & Key Responsibilities
BLACK MANGO, an upcoming bottomwear brand, is seeking a Mumbai-based freelance Fabric Sourcing Professional to source premium quality fabrics for their upcoming collection.
- Fabric Sourcing: Source fabrics matching the exact specifications and design concepts provided by the fashion design team.
- Vendor Network: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable fabric mills, textile manufacturers, and suppliers.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all sourced fabrics satisfy strict benchmarks for hand-feel, texture, construction, weight, and durability.
- Finishes & Washes: Explore and evaluate various specialized fabric finishes and washes tailored for bottomwear applications.
- Sampling & Coordination: Arrange fabric swatches, lab dips, samples, and conduct initial quality inspections while coordinating closely with the head designer.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
- Proven track record in fabric sourcing, textile procurement, or garment manufacturing.
- Strong existing network of fabric mills, weavers, and material suppliers across Mumbai/Western region.
- In-depth technical knowledge of fabric compositions, weaves, finishes, washes, and commercial pricing structure.
- Prior experience working with D2C apparel startups or Instagram-first fashion brands is strongly preferred.
- Must be based in or around Mumbai for localized vendor visits and sampling.
